Natural Help For Depression

Natural Options To Fight Depression Robin Williams a successful actor with assets over $50 Million, three children and a wife, why would he take his own life?  I don't think anyone one of us can pass judgment on someone battling with so many demons and struggling with the "D" word Depression. However, there is more to life than money and success, as a Christian based holistic nutritionist I look at Spirit, Mind and Body and if they are all in balance sadness and mild to moderate depression may creep up on you, but you can fight back....      The very first step to battling all obstacles in life is recognizing that there is a higher power than you, that you cannot control every aspect of your life and definitely cannot control what's going on around the world.  I may be criticized for saying higher power rather than God or Jesus, but I believe in baby steps especially if a higher power is new to you. If you feel hopeless or sad...pray, believe me prayer chang

Do Body Wraps Really Work?

Many  Americans because of our culture are very unhealthy, we live a fast paced, stressed out life and it is really having an impact on our health. Did  you know that because of high obesity rates among children more baby boomers may outlive their children? Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, Chiropractic, Massages etc are becoming more and more popular and understandably so.  As a Holistic Nutritionist that specializes in Food Addictions, Weight Loss, Hair Thinning and the list goes on I am always looking for something that will help my clients overcome these problems naturally and I have fallen in love with Body Wraps. There are 2 totally different body wraps that I have in my Wellness Center and not just for weight loss but for so much more. Many of my clients have Adrenal Fatigue which means that they are overworked, stressed to the point of exhaustion, but they still want to lose weight.   Weight loss can only begin once we begin to correct both diet and lifestyle iss

Sugar Free Carrot Cake For That Special One

My husband loves Carrot Cake and I have never even considered making it myself until I received a recipe in the mail of a traditional fattening Carrot Cake... So I began to tweak just to see if I could do it.  I was pleasantly surprised at the results! When it comes to baking you need to find a sugar free sweetener that you like. I actually blend sweeteners so that I like the sweetness and texture.  You will need to try a few until you find the one that is right for you. Ingredients: 3/4 cup Splenda 3/4 cup Stevia in the raw 6 packets Luckyleaf Stevia 1 cup of unsweetened applesauce 1 egg 2 eggwhites 1 cup Almond flour 1 cup oat flour (gluten free) I take old fashioned oatmeal and blend until flour texture 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp sea salt 2 cups grated carrots Frosting 2 pkgs Fat free or 1/3 less fat Philly Cream Cheese 1 cup splenda 1 cup Stevia in the raw 1 tbsp vanilla extract Cake: Blend the sweeteners apple sauce and eggs in the mixer.

Donuts--To Bake or Not To Bake That Is The Question!

It's Saturday morning and it seems like everyone is either turning into Krispy Kreme or that little donut shop around the corner and you think to yourself....hmmm it's Saturday I wouldn't mind having a donut.      If you love donuts then incorporate a healthy recipe for donuts.  Diabetes is destroying the health of millions of our fellow Americans and I am saddened when I see little kids that are obese....THERE IS A BETTER WAY!   I never enjoyed cooking when I was younger, but after losing over 115 pounds and knowing that I never wanted to fight that battle again, but I didn't want to feel deprived either...I discovered the way and that way is sending you into the kitchen to cook them yourself without all the grease, sugar and calories.       I cheated on these donuts because I used my Low Carb Chocolate Chocolate Chip Muffin Mix and then grabbed a 1/3 less fat cream cheese I had in the fridge.     Instructions: Serving size 12 donuts  1 bag Suzy's Low

Pancakes Can Be Fun & Healthy

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day partly because I know that by eating breakfast I increase my metabolism by up to 10%.  That's right eating breakfast increases your metabolism. Another reason is because I love pancakes and I have fun making them. All my recipes are healthy, but you can add blueberries, sugar free chocolate chips, sugar free syrup while at the same time eating a healthy meal. These are  my blueberry pancakes- Recipe Serves 2 - 3 1 cup old fashioned oat meal 1/2 cup 2% fat cottage cheese 1 whole egg 2 eggwhites 1/4 cup almond milk 1 tsp baking powder 2 Tbs Extra Virgin Olive Oil Optional: sprinkle blueberries on top before flipping Place all ingredients into a blender, blend until smooth. Quickly spray your griddle with Pam (there is a reason I say quickly) Then pour batter on top of the griddle... makes 6 to 8 pancakes. Once there are bubbles on the top of the entire pancake, flip until totally cooked. Should be a golden brown Add suga

Healthy Oven Baked Sweet Potato Fries

Can Fries really be healthy you ask?   Baked sweet potato fries can and this is why- Sweet potatoes are high in beta carotene which helps to elevate our vitamin A levels about 213.5% of our daily value and they are also high in vitamin C 52.2%  of our daily value along with Vitamin B6. While boiling or steaming actually reduces the glycemic index, adding fat such as olive oil also reduces the glycemic effect and actually helps the body absorb the beta carotene better. Recipe For Bake Sweet Potato Fries 2 Sweet potatoes peeled 1 tablespoon olive oil Sea salt to taste Set oven on 450 Peel potatoes and slice into long even slices so that they cook evenly. Using a zip lock bag add 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil with a pinch of sea salt, add the potatoes and shake until evenly blended. Place on cookie sheet with parchment paper spread evenly side by side. Bake for 15 minutes, take out and turn and brush on the remaining olive oil and bake for another 10 to 15 minutes depending on

Can You Eat Chocolate & Still Lose Weight?

As a Certified Nutritionist and sort of health nut I eat asparagus for breakfast, spinach in my protein drinks blueberries in my 1/3 cup of old fashioned oats, however, I believe in the 85/15 Rule and 85% of the time I eat very healthy, but during the 15% I may want something that isn't green and leafy so that's why I create these recipes. I weighed over 230 pounds and have lost 105 pounds or should I say half a person and kept if off for over 13 years and I'm over 40. So if I blog about a recipe, it's because I know how hard it is to have a snack or "treat" but still stay in my NO SUGAR NO WHITE FLOUR guidelines. Here's one of my recipe's for chocolate frosting: CREAM CHEESE CHOCOLATE FROSTING RECIPE: 1/2 block (4oz) of 1/3 less fat or fat free cream cheese 2 tsp butter or unsweetened applesauce (I always substitute with applesauce when baking) 3 Tbsp coconut milk 3 1/2 cups of Stevia-in-the-raw, Splenda or your sugar substitute of choice 3/

Can You Lose Up To 8% Of Body Fat In 4 Weeks?

I tend to be a skeptic when people tout how great anything is, I tend to think if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.  Until Chito Slim. I discovered that according to a Vanderbilt University article written titled "Chitosan Revolutionizing Weight Loss" Nutritional Information at www.hiddenyouth.com "Basically stated, chitosan is a special fiber which is able to "soak up" or absorb anywhere from six to ten times its weight in fat and oils.  In substance, it is chemically similar to the plant fiber, cellulose. However, chitosan is able to significantly bind with fat molecules and convert them into a form which the human body does not absorb...An ARS Medicina (Helsinki) 1994 report proved that test subjects lost 8% of their body weight in four weeks using chitosan." 1 Chito Slim is 3 times more effective than other Chitosan Products it has 1000 mg of Chitosan, 300 mg of Citric Acid and 100 mg of Lipase to speed the digestion process or s
